EE HPC Group Webinar: The Mont-Blanc approach towards Exascale

October 15, 2012

The EE HPC Working Group organizes monthly webinars on energy efficient high performance computing. They have kindly invited us to participate and it will be the first time that we will participate in the format of a webinar.

Webinar
Title: The Mont-Blanc approach towards Exascale
When: Tuesday, November 6th. 9-10AM Pacific Time
Speaker: Alex Ramirez, associated professor in the Computer Architecture Department at the Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya, and leader of the Heterogeneous Architectures group at BSC
Abstract: During the 90’s, miroprocessors killed the vector supercomputers as soon as they implemented the required features for HPC due to their lower cots and higher energy efficiency. Nowadays, we may be ready to take the next step, as embedded processors, which are implementing the required features for HPC, may kill microprocessors due to their lower cost and higher energy efficiency. The Mont-Blanc project leads a new approach towards energy efficient supercomputers based on mobile and embedded technologies.
